The Stand Off

Two Stellar's Jays having it out! (and 1 innocent bystander in the background) I usually have around 8 or 9 at the back deck every morning sharing the peanuts I put out for them; but these two had a squabble that lasted for about an hour. They chased each other around, sat next to each other and squawked at each other - even with peanuts in their mouths!

Note the way they are standing, side to side, bodies curved and tails pointed inward. They were literally walking around each other on the deck before I got my camera out like two cats about to fight.
